Job summary

La Center School District is seeking a Paraeducator I to support students in the Resource Room at La Center High School. The role involves instructional services under certificated staff, supervision across classrooms, playgrounds, and cafeteria, and providing 1:1 and small group support to meet learning goals.

The position operates 8:40 a.m.–3:20 p.m. on regular days, with variations for late starts or early release days.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school graduation or equivalent and at least ONE of the following is required: Associate's Degree or equivalent (48 semester/72 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university OR a passing score on a state-approved Paraeducator Assessment
• Willingness to complete professional development courses for Paraeducator certification
• CPR certification or ability to obtain one prior to hire
• Background check clearance by WA State Patrol and FBI may be required

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional services to students under certificated staff direction
• Perform student observation and assessment; provide feedback to assist certificated personnel
• Facilitate small group lessons to support academic areas as identified by teachers
• Implement instruction for individuals or small groups to meet learning goals
• Provide 1:1 student support as needed
• Monitor students in classrooms, playground, cafeteria, restrooms, hallways, bus loading zones, and parking lots
• Attend trainings and participate in staff meetings to support student needs
• Maintain accurate data collection and assist with reporting progress
• Practice confidentiality and maintain a safe, professional environment
• Attend required trainings and collaborate with staff to meet instructional needs
