Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have an AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the Professional Educator Standards Board.
• Must attach unofficial transcript proving AA or equivalent; official transcripts of all levels of education, required within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.
• Must be willing to become first-aid certified if required.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurse with health needs of student, including catheterization and tube feeding.
• Assist students with their educational needs, including assisting students in the regular classroom in reading and others areas as needed.
• Instruct students as directed by the certificated staff.
• Administer reading assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials as requested.
• Participate in staff and program in-services.
• Maintain records as necessary.
• Carry out plans and activities for students as designed by the reading specialist and classroom teacher.
