Job summary

George Washington University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks a Program Associate for Upward Bound to coordinate operations, recruit students, and support academic and summer curricula. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; degree conferred by start date or equivalent.
• Experience with programs serving academically disadvantaged students is a plus (e.g., TRIO).
• Strong customer service and organizational skills; excellent communication and policy/support aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead recruitment and enrollment of 8th–12th graders, review applications, interview candidates, and verify eligibility.
• Coordinate orientation and onboarding for students, families, staff, and faculty.
• Develop personal education plans, provide academic/career counseling, and mentor participants.
• Design and deliver college readiness and career development workshops, seminars, and classes.
• Direct tutoring services, match tutors to students, and monitor progress.
• Plan events, field trips, and college tours; occasional overnight travel as needed.
• Engage current and prospective students via social media and other channels.
• Administer assessments to gather feedback and prepare annual reports.
• Recruit, hire, and train instructors and staff; delegate duties as appropriate.
• Coordinate with leadership to design faculty professional development.
• Serve as liaison between Upward Bound and parents, schools, and community partners.
• Establish partnerships and oversee mentorship initiatives and parent communications.
