Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking an entry-level Success Mentor to support the academic and personal development of students in schools. Responsibilities include managing student caseloads, monitoring attendance, and providing guidance to ensure engagement and success.

The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma and experience in mentoring or teaching. Skills in communication and strong organizational capabilities are essential for building relationships with students and families.

Qualifications

• Prior mentoring or teaching experience preferred.
• At least two years of work experience in human services or a related field.
• Experience working with both child and adult populations.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of students and build meaningful relationships.
• Monitor attendance and provide guidance to students.
• Conduct parent/child enrollments and provide safety education.

Skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to understand and be patient with students’ challenges

Problem-solving ability

Strong organizational skills

Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel

Education

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
