Job summary

Helms College is seeking a Student Retention and Engagement Specialist to support students on-campus and online. The role develops and implements programs promoting engagement, academic success, retention, and graduation, serving as a liaison among academic departments, faculty, and students.

The incumbent will lead retention efforts, monitor attendance, and coordinate proactive outreach, while maintaining FERPA compliant records and contributing to a positive college culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required (Graduate degree preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year experience in coaching, advising, or counseling.
• Experience with non-traditional students preferred.
• Strong computer literacy and MS Office proficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Helms College students and coordinate with faculty and staff.
• Lead retention meetings and report on attendance and retention metrics.
• Provide individualized guidance to online and on-campus students.
• Support student wellness referrals and FERPA compliant record keeping.
• Organize events and collaborate with departments to promote engagement.
