Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia, Inc. is seeking a Student Retention and Engagement Specialist to support Helms College students on campus and online.

The role drives engagement, academic success, and retention by coordinating programs and collaborating with faculty, admissions, and student services. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) and at least 1 year of coaching/advising experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, human resources, or related field.
• Graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in coaching, advising, or counseling.
• Experience working with non-traditional students preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office and LMS platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead retention efforts by organizing regular retention meetings with faculty and student services to address needs.
• Collect, analyze, and report data on student retention and progression to guide interventions.
• Monitor attendance using attendance-tracking software; intervene for at-risk students.
• Provide proactive outreach to students via phone, email, or LMS to build advising relationships.
• Conduct regular check-ins with advisees to support academic progress and communicate policies.
