Job summary

Orange County Public Schools is seeking a position focused on developing and implementing a program to secure and maintain employment for at-risk students. The role involves working directly with students to modify behaviors in classroom and employability training, including accompanying students to job sites and overseeing work training.

The program emphasizes advocacy, collaboration with teachers and administrators, and delivering targeted skills training for successful transitions to work.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher; or at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution (official transcription required)
• Two years progressively knowledgeable and responsible experience working with special education students
• Certifications/training in CPR, CPI, first aid, behavioral management, and aggression control techniques as applicable

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS.
• Provides direct supervision to students with special education needs or behavioral problems as specified on IEPs.
• Accompanies students to appointments, job sites or other off-campus activities to assess social and employability needs.
• Confers with teachers, administrators, and student educational teams to identify behaviors requiring modification.
• Functions as advocate between site personnel and students to maintain open communications and employment objectives.
• Develops and implements strategies for developing students’ independent work skills.
• Observes students at job sites and oversees work training with instruction as needed.
• Maintains records and data relevant to targeted program students.
• Provides prerequisite skills training for transitions to least restrictive environments.
• Monitors activities to ensure safety and reports incidents.
• Keeps up to date on technology used by OCPS and attends required trainings.

Education

Associate’s degree or higher; or at least sixty (60) semester hours
