Job summary

The role requires a Master’s in Counseling or related field with relevant teaching experience, licensure or eligibility, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Counseling or related field with 18 graduate-level hours in Counseling or Social Work.
• One year of higher education counseling experience and two semesters of teaching (may occur concurrently).
• Licensed or eligible in Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
• Strong background in working with a student population and sensitivity to their needs.
• Knowledge of curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for students.
• Advanced communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of academic, personal, career and transfer counseling with students.
• Assist with New Student Orientations and provide individual counseling appointments.
• May teach General Studies courses and student success workshops.
• Maintain academic counseling records in SARS, DegreeWorks, Banner and other systems.
• Engage with faculty and staff to educate students in areas of expertise.
• May participate in committees and campus/community events.

Education

Master’s Degree in Counseling or related field with 18 graduate-level hours in Counseling/Social Work

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to build relationships across campus

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Excellent organizational skills
