Job summary

• Must be enrolled in a graduate program in student personnel administration or higher education/student affairs administration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive one-on-one training regarding advisement and registration functions.
• Gain exposure to diverse student populations (new, transfer, readmit, continuing).
• Participate in SSC events such as registration sessions, Welcome Week tabling, career fairs, open houses, orientation.
• Support students by connecting them with other campus offices.
• Familiarize with Banner Web and Degree Works.
• Conduct outreach to registration-ready students.

The Student Success Center at SUNY Niagara seeks a graduate intern eager to gain hands‑on experience in academic advising and registration. The intern will work closely with a team of Student Success Coaches, the Career & Transfer Coordinator, and the Registration Coordinator, gaining exposure to a broad range of student support services in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Typical Work Activities

• Receive one‑on‑one training regarding advisement and registration functions
• Gain exposure to a wide range of student populations (new, transfer, readmit, and continuing)
• Participate in SSC events such as registration sessions, Welcome Week tabling, career fairs, open houses, orientation, and other semester‑dependent activities
• Support students by connecting them with other campus offices
• Familiarize with software such as Banner Web and Degree Works
• Conduct outreach to registration‑ready students
• Additional opportunities may arise based on the student’s background, interests, and skills
