Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, business or related field with 1–3 years advising experience.
• Background checks required per SSCC policies.
• Ability to document identity and comply with immigration requirements.
• Knowledge of SSCC program/course requirements and transfer options.

Responsibilities

• Meets with students individually and in groups to discuss educational options and resources.
• Assists students in creating an academic completion plan with career, major, and goal setting.
• Monitors student progress and assists with probation plans when needed.
• Gives referrals as appropriate and generates reports.
• Collaborates with Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid to aid paperwork and maintains advising worksheets.
• Participates in orientation, recruitment, and retention activities and conducts academic success workshops.
