Job summary

Missouri Southern State University is seeking an Academic Advisor/Tutoring Coordinator to support the Project tutoring and study group programs. The role includes counseling, academic advising, and coordinating services for about 75 students.

The position teaches up to one class per academic year, assists in admissions-related review, and develops Individual Development Plans to guide students toward graduation and career goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, education, reading, English, math, or related area.
• Experience in counseling, advising, or teaching in basic skills is required.
• Experience working with college-age students is preferred.
• Knowledge of Student Support Services/activities such as advising, counseling, assessment, career development, tutoring, financial aid, etc. is required.

Responsibilities

• Participates in recruiting and selecting students for the Project.
• Teaches one class per academic year focusing on professional development.
• Maintains a caseload of 75 Project Stay students.
• Advises students on social, academic, financial, and career issues.
• Writes an Individual Development Plan and tracks progress toward graduation.
• Coordinates workshops, leadership classes, and campus activities.
• Promotes positive institutional climate by serving on campus committees.
