Job summary

Yeshiva University invites applications for an Academic Advisor in the Dean of Students department at the Beren Campus. The role supports students from orientation through graduation, coordinating with the Dean, chairs, and the Office of the Registrar to plan, manage, and operate programs and student services.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of relevant experience, strong writing skills for personal statements, and a collaborative approach to guiding students and faculty.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to students.
• Ability to make sound judgments and good organizational skills.
• Excellent writing skills to help students prepare personal statements for law school.
• Advisors work with independence but coordinate with each other.

Responsibilities

• Advise students 1-1 and in groups.
• Meet with students to review course selection and schedule creation.
• Review records and advise on graduation requirements.
• Review and approve outside courses and syllabi.
• Follow up on midterm warnings and Incomplete grades.
• Consult with faculty to identify recipients of academic awards.
• Conduct academic sessions at orientation and organize math placement exams.
• Assist department chairs in guiding students to graduate schools.
• Coordinate probation/dismissal processes and LOA, medical letters.
• Contribute to Orientation/Open House tasks.
• Serve as key team member for the YSN – Starfish.
• Oversee Peer Tutoring Center and Frontiers Program.
• Manage academic enrichment programs and humanities/social sciences focus.
• Update department webpages incl. advisement (FAQ).
