Job summary

Yeshiva University seeks a Beren Rabbinic Intern to serve as a religious educator and mentor on campus. The role involves delivering shiurim, conducting individual meetings, and coordinating Shabbat and holiday programming.

On-campus housing is provided. The intern will work with the Dean of Torah Studies, the Beren Campus Rabbi, and student groups to foster religious growth and community across the Beit Midrash and campus life.

Qualifications

• A BA or MA in Judaic Studies, Education, or Social Work preferred.
• Rabbinic ordination or RIETS ordination program (Semikhah).
• At least two years of professional work experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver shiurim and study in Beit Midrash with students.
• Meet with students one-on-one for mentorship and guidance.
• Plan Shabbat/holiday programming with campus leadership.
• Collaborate with campus staff and student committees on religious life initiatives.
• Reside in an on-campus apartment and participate in regular staff meetings.

Job description

Position Summary:

The role of the Beren Rabbinic Intern is to be on campus to serve as a religious educator, role model, and mentor to the student body primarily through delivering shiurim, individual meetings, and Shabbat/holiday programming.

On-campus housing will be provided.

Position Responsibilities

Religious Life

• Work with the Dean of Torah Studies and the Beren Campus Rabbi and Rebbetzin couple to craft an educational program for religious education on campus outside of the classroom.
• Deliver regular shiurim in the Beit Midrash and study in small groups with students.
• Planning includes:
  • Working with a student committee to enhance Shabbos.
  • Be present on campus twice a week to meet with students and give Torah classes.
  • Organizing Student Divrei Torah.

On Shabbos Responsibilities

• Be present on campus 3 out of every 4 Shabbatot.
• On 1 or 2 out of 3 of those Shabbatot, be present at lunch or dinner and Seudah Shelishit, and run the meal.
• On 1 or 2 out of 3 of those Shabbatot, be present for all 3 meals in Stern.
• Run the Shabbat prayers on campus.
• Assist with leading off-campus Shabbatons as assigned.

Engagement

• Proactively form meaningful relationships with students from a variety of learning backgrounds.
• Offer religious guidance and mentorship to students.
• Connect students to resources and opportunities for religious growth in the greater New York and global Jewish communities.
• Actively promote Yeshiva University and its Jewish life to prospective students and parents.

Community Leadership

• Become an active member of the Office of Undergraduate Torah Studies, and work closely with student-led clubs on campus.
• Advise and serve as a Jewish resource for Beren campus student groups.

Administration

• Participate in regular staff meetings and events of the Office of Undergraduate Torah Studies and Office of Student Life.
• Additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Office of Undergraduate Torah Studies.
• Reside in an on-campus apartment.

Experience & Educational Background:

• A BA or MA in Judaic Studies, Education, or Social Work preferred.
• Rabbinic ordination or in the RIETS ordination program (Semikhah).
• At least two years of professional work experience.

Salary Range:

$20,000 - $20,000 plus housing
