The University of North Texas System in Denton seeks a full‑time Academic Advisor to support the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The role focuses on promoting student success, progression, and timely graduation, with duties spanning degree audits, workshops, and advising at the front desk.

The position requires collaboration with faculty and staff, strong communication, and the ability to work hybrid hours including some evenings or weekends.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.
• Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree plus 2 years working directly with students in an advising capacity.

Responsabilidades

• Performs advanced advising work in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences regarding degree requirements, complex academic issues, interprets and makes decisions regarding academic policies, complex degree audits, and evaluates progress to graduation.
• Corresponds with students about degree requirements, transfer hours, etc., via various forms of communication.
• Assist students with exploring other degree options or majors. Serves as on‑call advisor for the Advising Office by answering phone calls, emails, covering appointments, and seeing walk‑ins.
• Provides information and answers questions for prospective students and parents; provides referrals to resources.
• Assists in recruitment activities and events; supports retention strategies; monitors data for prospective and admitted students; manages external communications to these cohorts.
• Prepares, updates and checks degree audits; evaluates transfer work; processes graduation applications; advises students on discrepancies and GPA.
