Job summary

The University of Houston System seeks a Program Advisor I to support participant success by providing guidance, resources, and individualized support within the Upward Bound program in Houston. You will help students engage, progress, and achieve their goals through advising, outreach, and progress monitoring.

Responsibilities include conducting advising sessions, workshops, and orientations; connecting students with academic, career, financial, tutoring, and counseling services; and

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree.
• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of related job experience.
• License/Certification: None required

Responsibilities

• Provides guidance, advising, and individualized support to participants regarding program requirements, opportunities, services, and pathways that support achievement of educational, career, or program goals.
• Assists prospective, new, and continuing participants in understanding available resources, program expectations, eligibility requirements, and options for successful participation and completion.
• Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with participants through regular communication, coaching, and follow-up to encourage engagement, persistence, and successful outcomes.
• Coordinates and delivers advising sessions, workshops, presentations, orientations, and informational programs that promote participant development, progression, and achievement of program objectives.
• Identifies participant needs and connects individuals with appropriate academic, career, financial, wellness, tutoring, counseling, or other support services and resources.
• Participates in outreach, recruitment, and retention activities designed to increase awareness of program offerings and expand participation among eligible populations.
• Monitors participant progress, maintains case records and documentation, tracks outcomes, and prepares reports to support program assessment, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Collaborates with educational institutions, community organizations, employers, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to support participant success and advance program goals.
• Maintains accurate participant records, communications, and documentation in accordance with program, organizational, and regulatory requirements.
• Performs participant support activities and other program-specific advising, coaching, outreach, and case management functions necessary to achieve the unique goals and objectives of the assigned program.
