Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking an Academic Advisor in the College of Arts & Sciences. You will advise current and prospective students on academic program planning in person through drop-ins and appointments, and by phone and email.

You will participate in recruitment and retention efforts, encourage wellbeing and adjustment to the university, and help students explore majors and careers while identifying internships, research, education abroad, service, and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of 1:1 or group advising experience.
  • Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Ability to learn complex academic requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Experience with office software and technology platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Advise current and prospective students on academic planning in person, via drop-ins, appointments, and by phone/email.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention efforts, including New Student Enrollment.
  • Encourage wellbeing and adjustment to the University, and exploration of interests related to majors and careers.
  • Assist students in identifying quality real-world experiences through internships, research, education abroad, service, and leadership.
