Job summary

Kennesaw State University seeks an Academic Advisor for Owl Advising to provide high‑quality guidance on information, procedures and academic requirements, helping students select a major and plan their degree.

You will meet with students, develop multi‑semester degree plans, connect them with campus resources, and participate in new‑student orientation and pre‑orientation advising. This full‑time, regular role offers a salary range of $44,000 to $50,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • One (1) year of experience in a student success or support related role.
  • Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • Advanced degree in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality academic advising services to current and prospective KSU students.
  • Develop multi-semester degree planning following major curriculum guidelines.
  • Connect students with appropriate academic and non-academic services and document advising sessions.
  • Meet formally with students to develop meaningful connections.
  • Attend and participate in orientation and pre-orientation advising sessions with students and families.
  • Participate in college or institutional student success initiatives.
  • Utilize analytics to improve advising activity and student success metrics.
  • Contribute to coordination of unit-level communication on milestones and resources.
  • Monitor retention, progression, and graduation for assigned student populations.
