Job Description
The Student Services Director is a key member of the district's administrative leadership team. The Director provides vision, leadership, and oversight for special education, guidance, school counseling, nursing services, Section 504, and student support programming while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. The Director also serves as the district's Title I and Title IX Coordinators.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Program Administration
- Provide leadership and supervision for the district's Student Support Services Department.
- Oversee guidance services, including academic advising, career and college planning, and social-emotional supports.
- Develop and oversee budgeting for Special Education, Guidance, and Nursing Services.
- Supervise school nursing services to ensure high-quality health care.
- Oversee the Pre-Employment Self-Contained Program and other specialized programs for students with significant disabilities.
- Direct scheduling processes for special education and school counseling staff to maximize student services.
- Lead Student Support Team meetings and coordinate interventions that improve student outcomes.
- Special Education & Student Services
- Oversee all special education programming in accordance with IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations.
- Ensure high-quality implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), transition planning, and Section 504 Accommodation Plans.
- Chair and/or oversee IEP transition, initial, and 3-year re-evaluation meetings and Section 504 meetings, ensuring legal compliance and meaningful participation.
- Coordinate and facilitate the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC).
- Compliance & Civil Rights
- Ensure district compliance with federal and state special education regulations.
- Lead DESE Tiered Focus Monitoring, Coordinated Program Reviews, Civil Rights Reviews, and other compliance activities.
- Maintain required records and reports in accordance with DESE and federal requirements.
- Title IX Coordinator
- Serve as the District Title IX Coordinator.
- Coordinate the district's compliance with Title IX and related federal and state civil rights laws.
- Title I Coordinator
- Administers the district's Title I program and ensures compliance with federal requirements.
- Partners with staff and families to improve student academic outcomes through targeted supports.
- Admissions & Enrollment
- Direct admissions and recruitment efforts throughout the district's member communities and approved out-of-district enrollment areas.
- Staff Leadership Supervise, evaluate and provide coaching, professional development, and ongoing performance feedback to:
- Department Administrative Assistants
- School counselors
- School psychologist
- Adjustment counselor
- Speech and language pathologist
- Special education Team Chair
- External therapeutic providers
- School nurses
- Special education teachers
- Paraprofessionals
- Other assigned student support personnel

- Experience supervising professional staff.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Preferred
- Experience in a vocational-technical school.
- Experience chairing IEP/504 meetings.
- Experience serving as a Title IX Coordinator or conducting civil rights investigations.
- Experience with DESE Tiered Focus Monitoring or Coordinated Program Reviews.
- At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Master degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
