Job summary

You will develop robot kinematics, create simulations, and assess safety and performance while collaborating with a diverse team. Ideal candidates will have a related bachelor's degree, strong organization, and programming skills in Python/C++, with ROS and simulation tool experience.

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a student to support research involving robotics and manufacturing systems, under the supervision of Dr. Caio Mucchiani. We are looking for highly motivated individuals, who are willing to research, learn, and mentor to join our team. The Funding is from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

• Develop and test robot kinematics and workspace models.
• Build physics-based simulations of robot motion, contact, and force.
• Check robot actions for safety, physical limits, and collision risks.
• Conduct experiments involving part handling, fixture loading, and tool use.
• Measure system performance, including success rates, cycle times, and recovery from errors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Coursework or experience in robot kinematics and dynamics, multibody mechanics, or control systems.
• Familiarity with simulation tools such as Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or Gazebo.
• Experience with ROS or ROS 2.
• Programming experience in Python or C++.
• Interest in robot hardware, sensors, and manufacturing applications.
