Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) School of Social Work is seeking a Student Recruiter AA to collaborate with advisors, the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, and faculty to guide inquiries through advisor assignment. The role supports recruitment for BSW and MSW programs and involves outreach, information sessions, interviews, counseling, and admissions counseling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–3 years of higher education or relevant experience.
• Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently and independently.
• Ability to travel for extended periods and work weekend/evening recruitment events.

Responsibilities

• Represent VCU at student recruitment events and activities for the assigned area or student base.
• Serve as a university liaison and provide information about the university to prospective undergraduate students, their parents, guidance counselors, and other constituencies.
• Plan, organize, and conduct information sessions, interviews, and counseling sessions with prospective undergraduate students and their parents.
• Evaluate data and applicant credentials for admission and counsel prospective students on admissibility and success prospects.
• Coordinate and implement recruitment strategies to attract MSW/BSW students and work with other university offices.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, professional counseling, psychology or a related field

Master’s degree in social work, education, professional counseling, psychology, or related field
