Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Social Work, Office of Field Education, is hiring field education liaisons to oversee MSW field placements. Liaisons act as a link among the School, field instructors, and students to ensure learning objectives are met.

Responsibilities include orienting students, providing syllabi, grading field work, and offering ongoing consultation and feedback. This part-time, non-benefited role supports diverse communities and CSWE-aligned field education.

Qualifications

• MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program
• Minimum of three years post MSW practice experience
• Previous field education experience as a field instructor or related
• Flexibility in schedule during the traditional work day

Responsibilities

• Orienting students to the field course
• Providing students with a syllabus outlining expectations for the field course
• Facilitating monthly virtual class sessions
• Reading and grading student field course work requirements in a timely manner
• Assigning final field education grades based on all gathered course data
• Providing feedback to students regarding their progress in field education
• Providing consultation and support to students when there are difficulties in field education
• Helping field instructors design meaningful field education experiences for students
• Making virtual agency visits via video conferencing and maintaining ongoing contact with the field instructor and student
• Being available to students and field instructors for consultation and problem solving
• Adhering to the Office of Field Education's policies and practices
• Attending and actively participating in monthly virtual field liaison meetings
• Working directly with the Office of Field Education when student or agency related issues arise
• Participate in field liaison trainings and orientations
• Providing ongoing evaluation of the placement agency and field instructor's willingness and ability to provide learning opportunities
• Informing the student's adviser when the student is experiencing difficulty
• Other duties as assigned

The VCU School of Social Work, Office of Field Education, ishiring field education liaisons to oversee the field education ofsocial work students completing the MSW Program. Field Liaisonsserve as a link between the School of Social Work, field instructorand student.

The roles and responsibilities of the field liaison include:

• Orienting students to the field course
• Providing students with a syllabus outlining expectations for thefield course
• Facilitating monthly virtual class sessions
• Reading and grading student field course work requirements in atimely manner
• Assigning final field education grades based on all gatheredcourse data, including but not limited to field instructor'sevaluation, assessment of field course work, and informationderived from liaison conferences
• Providing feedback to students regarding their progress in fieldeducation
• providing consultation and support to students when there aredifficulties in field education
• Helping field instructors design meaningful field educationexperiences for students
• Making virtual agency visits via video conferencing andmaintaining ongoing contact with the field instructor and student

This is a part-time, non-benefited appointment

Salary: $4,626 (full caseload, up to 17 students)$2,313 (half caseload, up to 11 students)

This position does not provide a formal pathway to full-time employment with Virginia Commonwealth University.

Required Qualifications:

• MSW Degree from a CSWE accredited social work program
• Minimum of three years post MSW practice experience
• Previous field education experience as a field instructor orother social work education related experience
• Flexibility in schedule during the traditional work day
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environmentof respect, professionalism and civility with a population offaculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds andexperiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member atVCU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Served as field instructor for a minimum of two years
• Five years of post MSW practice experience
• Previous higher education teaching experience with a focus onsocial work education or a related field
• Knowledge of non-profit and government social service agencies inthe state of Virginia
