The Student Recruiter at Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU)School of Social Work (SSW) will work closely with the SeniorStudent Recruitment Specialist, advisors for the Bachelor of SocialWork(BSW) and/or Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, theAssistant Dean of Student Affairs, program directors, faculty, andstaff to ensure a seamless experience from the point of inquirythrough advisor assignment.
Student Recruiters providestudent recruitment services for the BSW and/or MSW programs. Theyserve as liaisons to department or unit managers in order toeffectively develop and implement recruitment strategies consistentwith the university's overall recruitment strategy. Their typicalduties include leading the coordination of undergraduate andgraduate recruitment initiatives; conducting information sessions,interviews, and counseling sessions with prospective students andtheir parents; providing guidance to prospective applicants onprogram requirements and required documents, admission, anduniversity procedures; utilizing pre-enrollment databases foradmission status verification and outreach; traveling torecruitment events at college fairs, career fairs, social workconferences, and community colleges. They work under limitedsupervision, resolving moderately complex issues independently andreferring more complex issues to the Senior Recruitment Specialistand/or Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. Their decisions andquality of services have a measurable impact on university andSchool of Social Work recruitment goals. This is an enterprise-wideposition.
