Job summary

Metropolitan Community College is seeking a Re-entry Peer Mentor to provide ongoing, individualized student support across campuses. The role collaborates with staff, faculty, and coaches to assess progress and implement effective interventions, helping participants persist and achieve education goals.

The position involves intake support, data collection for grants, and active participation in department meetings and community events, with travel between campuses as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required.
• Two (2) years of full-time experience supporting or coaching others, preferably inside a correctional setting and/or with individuals who have been recently released from a correctional facility.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
• Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provides ongoing, individualized student support services designed to help program participants persist and complete goals.
• Assists with participants’ intake process and works with program staff to ensure and support participant access to programming and achievement of academic success.
• Determines individual supports necessary and provides resource referrals.
• Assists with collection of quantitative and qualitative data for grant reporting purposes.
• Continuously provides participant support to assist with retention efforts.
• Works collaboratively with other departments and services to understand processes, systems and services to resolve student issues.
• Represents the department at community events as assigned.
• Works with the Re-Entry Coaches, Re-Entry Director, faculty and other staff members of the College to continually assess students’ progress, implement helpful interventions as necessary, and track overall program outcomes.
• Participates in events including, but not limited to: department meetings, advisory committee meetings, re-entry fairs, completion ceremonies and student appreciation events.
• Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
