Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital is seeking a Student Radiology Technologist to assist in performing radiographic procedures and provide patient care in a clinical setting while developing technical skills under supervision, with adherence to radiation safety standards.

Location is West Hospital with an On-Call schedule; hours can be flexed based on availability. This role emphasizes patient care, equipment setup, and accurate documentation within a safety-focused radiology team.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Temporary Medical Radiographer (RAD.TEMP) or Limited Radiologic Technologist (RAD.LIM) license required where applicable.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs limited diagnostic radiographic procedures within the scope of licensure and training under supervision.
  • Assists with radiographic procedures including portable exams, C-arm, and general x-ray.
  • Positions and instructs patients for exams using immobilization and protective devices as directed.
  • Assists with room preparation and setup of equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrates infection control and sterile technique during procedures.
  • Processes images using DR and CR systems and assists with PACS workflow under supervision.
  • Maintains accurate patient records for imaging studies.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will assist in performing radiographic procedures and provide patient care in a clinical setting while developing technical skills under appropriate supervision, in accordance with radiation safety and organizational standards.

Schedule: On-Call; Hours can be flexed based on availability

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Performs limited diagnostic radiographic procedures within the scope of licensure and training. Does not perform CT, fluoroscopy, mammography, or administer contrast media.
  • Assists with radiographic procedures including portable exams, C-arm, and general x-ray under supervision, following radiation safety guidelines.
  • Positions and instructs patients for exams using appropriate immobilization, support, and protective devices, as directed.
  • Assists with room preparation, including set-up of equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Demonstrates and applies proper infection control and sterile technique when participating in procedures.
  • Processes images using DR and CR systems and assists with PACS workflow under supervision.
  • Assists with documentation, clerical functions, and ensuring accurate patient records for imaging studies.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment, reports equipment issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Provides patient care and basic education appropriate to the population served.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior consistent with Radiology service standards and supports a positive patient and team experience.
  • Participates in clinical learning experiences and demonstrates progression in competency and skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
  • Temporary Medical Radiographer (RAD.TEMP) or Limited Radiologic Technologist (RAD.LIM) license required, if applicable per state regulations required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire required.
