Job summary

Boys Town in Omaha, NE seeks an Imaging Assistant to support diagnostic imaging by assisting technologists and clinical staff, preparing patients, and maintaining imaging rooms. You will handle image management, patient transport, and clerical tasks to ensure timely workflow.

Responsibilities include positioning patients, operating PACS, sending images to facilities, and adhering to MRI safety standards while delivering education and care to patients across populations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • CNA certification preferred.

  • Assists with cleaning and turning over the radiology rooms before and after use.
  • Acts as liaison between check-in, scheduling and registration and the imaging department.
  • Burns CDs at Technologist request.
  • Faxes radiology reports to outside facilities as needed.
  • Monitors incoming faxes.
  • Adheres to MRI safety standards and requirements.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

Job description

Supports diagnostic imaging services by assisting imaging technologists and clinical staff in providing safe, efficient, and highquality patient care. Prepares patients for imaging procedures, transports patients and equipment, maintains imaging rooms and supplies, and performs clerical and support tasks to ensure timely workflow within the imaging department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Assists technologist in capturing, processing, and managing images.
  • Escorts patients to and from radiology and prepares patient for the exam.
  • Stocks rooms with supplies and linen.
  • Works in radiology PACS to send images to other hospitals.
  • Sends images to other facilities via PowerShare.
  • Assists Technologist to position, transfer and properly immobilize patients as required.
  • Assists Technologist with room preparation and table set-up.
  • Assists with cleaning and turning over the radiology rooms before and after use.
  • Acts as liaison between check-in, scheduling and registration and the imaging department.

  • Faxes radiology reports to outside facilities as needed.

  • Completes all other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Develops effective work skills to perform functions of Imaging Assistant-Successful Futures position to include communication, critical thinking and problem solving, professionalism, attendance and dependability, teamwork, and technical skills.
  • Ability to learn effective communication skills to work with individuals and articulate in a professional manner.
  • Ability to learn proficiency in Microsoft systems.
  • Learns how to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CNA certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Sedentary to medium work, frequently having to exert up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must be able to see well enough to read labels, monitors, reports, and computer screens. Must be able to hear and speak well to communicate instructions by spoken conversation. Must be able to do repetitive bending/reaching and standing for extended periods.
