Job summary

Trinity Health MI is seeking a part-time Radiologic Technologist to perform radiologic and fluoroscopic procedures with independent judgment. The role emphasizes patient positioning, safety, and collaboration with radiologists for diagnostic imaging.

Responsibilities include contrast media handling, equipment maintenance, and quality control. Requires AMA-certified radiologic training, ARRT registry, and BLS; prior Rad Tech experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Completion of AMA approved radiologic technology program.
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • One year experience as a Rad Tech preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with radiologist/physician as needed for examinations.
  • Performs radiologic and fluoroscopic procedures with appropriate patient positioning.
  • Prepares/ administers contrast media per department policy.
  • Maintains equipment and performs quality control checks daily.
  • Ensures radiation safety and proper documentation of procedures.

What you will do

The Radiologic Technologist performs radiologic procedures at a technical level not requiring supervision of technical detail. The Rad Tech performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with integrity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis. Performs routine radiographic fluoroscopic procedures on patient of all ages (including pediatrics), demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, techniques. Performs and/or assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.

  • Prepares and/or administers contrast media according to department policy.
  • Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills.
  • Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment within the department.
  • Develops exposed films and reloads cassettes with appropriate film.
  • Positions patient to obtain desired views.
  • Applies immobilization devices as required.
  • Prepares and positions patient for procedures.
  • Retrieves and calls reports to physician's office, nursing units, surgery and ER upon request.
  • Reviews exposed radiographs for proper positioning, techniques and identification.
  • Recognizes and records patient history, unusual conditions/limitations such as examination time, room number and technique.
  • Performs all routine radiographic procedures and views according to the department procedures manual.
  • Performs daily warm up and quality control checks to each radiographic room/equipment assigned.
  • Responds quickly to beeper calls.
  • Performs quality control test on assigned equipment.
  • Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation.
  • Performs visual preventive safety inspections, completes tube warm‑up procedures for each radiographic room/equipment as assigned. Records quality control activities, reports dangerous department or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Provides radiation protection to patient, self and staff according to the prescribed safety standards including but not limited to coning, proper techniques, film badge applications, and repeat.
  • Performs visual preventive maintenance checks, records and reports results to appropriate personnel.
  • Fills out maintenance forms.
  • Practices sterile techniques to prevent cross contamination.
  • Practices isolation techniques to prevent cross contamination.
  • Receives consultation request checking for special instructions from the requesting physician, consults with radiologist as necessary. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introducing yourself.
  • Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present.
  • Greets and introduces self to patient.
  • Describes nature and time requirement of examination to patient.
  • Identifies problem and communicates to immediate supervisor; offers solutions as appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Consults with radiologist and/or physician/nurse regarding examinations as necessary.
  • Updates patient examination history file, records unusual conditions/limitations, documents examination time, room number and technique factors. Completes examination, consultation and billing procedures as required.

  • Completion of AMA approved radiologic technology program.
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
  • Previous one year experience (preferred) as a Rad Tech or Radiologist.
