Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a student Radiation Support role to assist Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists. You will participate in imaging procedures, patient care, and workflow coordination under supervision.

The position involves rotating across diagnostic areas, preparing supplies, educating patients, and maintaining safety standards in a hospital setting. This role is non-exempt and on-site at 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV.

Qualifications

• Completion of first year of an Accredited Radiography School and enrolled as a second year student.
• Ability to assist Radiologic Technologists in imaging procedures and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Rotates in all Diagnostic areas for development of technical skills (Fluoro, Mobiles, Routine, OR, Endoscopy, Orthopedics).
• Assists in preparing contrast agents, pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays per guidelines.
• Navigates transport details and patient transfers.
• Educates patients regarding radiographic procedures and answers questions.
• Promotes teamwork among technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.
• Reports equipment failures promptly.
• Participates in daily work-flow coordination.

Job description

Assists Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by performing imaging / therapeutic services and associated patient care to support the Radiology Department mission to provide diagnostic information for the subsequent treatment of patients at WVU Medicine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Completion of first year of an Accredited Radiography School and enrolled as a second year student.

2. Assists Radiologic Technologists in preparing contrast agents, specific pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays; which are utilized for the imaging procedure according to procedural guidelines and protocols.

3. Navigates transport details and patient transfers.

4. Educates patients regarding radiographic procedures by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly.

5. Promotes the team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.

6. Reports equipment failures immediately upon identification.

7. Participates in coordination of daily work flow.

4. Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques, manipulation of the equipment, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised due to patient’s condition, age, or ability.
