Job summary

The Office of Student Financial Assistance at Kansas State University seeks a dedicated scholarship coordinator to manage processing, tracking, and auditing scholarship programs for designated student cohorts. This on-site role requires strong regulatory knowledge and cross-unit collaboration.

You will interface with athletic department scholarships, ensure compliance with federal Title IV and NCAA rules, and support enrollment management by delivering timely aid and clear guidance to students

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
  • 2–3 years' experience with a third-party higher education SIS such as Banner, PeopleSoft, PowerFAIDS, etc.
  • Strong collaboration across units toward common goals and ability to explain complex rules.

Responsibilities

  • Process waivers and track sponsorship awards as part of student financial aid packages.
  • Audit scholarships administered by the university's athletic department.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, Title IV, state, NCAA, and institutional eligibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with OSFA staff and stakeholders to deliver timely, student-focused aid.

About This Role

This position serves as the primary individual within the Office of Student Financial Assistance's (OSFA's) five (5) member scholarship unit responsible for the timely and accurate processing of scholarship programs targeted toward specific cohorts of students. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of professional collaboration across administrative offices and/or across business units specific to the accurate and timely delivery of financial aid or other fiscal benefits. Examples of scholarship programs with specific eligibility criteria include state sponsored scholarships, philanthropic educational foundation scholarships, sponsoring community scholarships, targeted institutional gift aid, etc.. In addition, the position administers, tracks, and audits all scholarships made by the university's athletic department. The incumbent must possess a robust ability to interpret and apply complex statutory and regulatory guidelines, since the administrative duties associated with this position must ensure the office's compliance with federal, Title IV, student aid, state aid, NCAA, Big XII Conference, and institutional eligibility requirements. Working in tandem with other OSFA staff members, this position supports the office's overall enrollment management mission of delivering student aid resources in a timely and student service friendly manner. Examples of such general duties include processing waivers targeted toward specific university charges, accounting for anticipated sponsorship awards as part of student financial aid packages and collaborating with scholarship stakeholders both within and outside of the university.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2 - 3 years' experience utilizing a third party, higher education student information system such as, Banner, PeopleSoft, Powerfaids, etc.
  • 2 - 3 years' experience in accounting, budgeting, or similar financial tasks
    Strong track record of collaboratively working across business units toward common mission
    critical outcomes.
  • Robust customer service experience requiring ability to detail/explain complex regulatory/policy rules in an administrative/office setting.
  • 1 - 2 years providing training and/or presentations to small - medium-size audiences
  • Prefer experience in designing, testing, and creating business reports and/or experience
    extracting data utilizing query or crystal reports.
  • Prefer exposure to a large post-secondary educational institution as an employee or student.
  • 1 - 2 years robust understanding and application of federal, Title IV, student financial aid
    regulations
