Job summary

The University of New Mexico – Gallup campus is seeking a Student Public Relations Assistant to support communications and marketing efforts with a focus on student engagement. Under supervision of the Sr. Public Relations Specialist, you will create content and assist with events and campus outreach.

This student employment position is Work-Study, non-exempt, with a pay rate of $12.00 per hour. Duties include designing flyers, updating newsletters, taking photos, posting materials around

Qualifications

• Good computer skills.
• Good people skills.
• Willingness to learn and practice new job-related skills (training provided).
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to complete brand training for The University of New Mexico.
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with CMS and social media management.

Responsibilities

• Works on creative projects focused on student engagement: designing and updating flyers, formatting digital newsletters, writing stories, taking and editing photos, maintaining campus events calendar, creating social media and video content.
• Assists Sr. Public Relations Specialist and Sr. Web Designer with brainstorming ideas to engage UNM-Gallup students.
• Prints and posts marketing materials around campus; maintains digital kiosk content.
• Provides customer service at the visitor center and supports campus events.
• Performs office duties: greeting visitors, taking notes, answering phones, scanning documents, running errands.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
