Job summary

University of New Mexico’s Gallup campus is seeking a Student Public Relations Assistant to assist with communications and marketing activities, focus on student engagement, and support office duties. The role offers a flexible student work schedule and learning opportunities across branding and digital media.

Under supervision, you will help create flyers, newsletters, stories, photos, and social media content, while gaining experience in web CMS and event support at the Gallup campus.

Qualifications

• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to complete brand training for The University of New Mexico.
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Express, Acrobat).
• Knowledge of Cascade CMS for updating websites.
• Knowledge of social media content management.

Responsibilities

• Works on creative projects with a focus on student engagement, including designing and updating flyers, formatting digital newsletters, writing stories, taking and editing photos, maintaining campus events calendar, creating social media content, and sharing video content.
• Assists the Sr. Public Relations Specialist and Sr. Web Designer in brainstorming ideas to engage the UNM-Gallup student population.
• Prints and posts marketing and informational materials around campus.
• Maintains digital kiosk content and provides customer service at the visitor center.
• Supports campus events and performs office duties as needed (greeting visitors, taking notes, answering phones, scanning documents, running errands).
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
