Job summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking a Marketing and Communications Assistant for the School of Engineering Dean’s Office. This student position involves creating news content, proofreading, and assisting with social media, photography, and design tasks in line with UNM Brand guidelines.

You will interview, write, fact-check, and produce visual content for newsletters and departments, while supporting the Marketing Manager with administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • GPA of 3.0 or better, pursuing any degree.
  • Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Express.
  • Proofreading and editing skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to follow specific instructions.
  • Strong customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and to make evaluative judgements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews, write and fact-check news-related content for the School’s departments, newsletter and social media accounts.
  • Take photos and/or video for stories and social media posts.
  • Produce flyers and other graphic design projects in accordance to UNM Brand guidelines and standards.
  • Support the SoE Marketing Manager with administrative tasks related to communications and marketing projects.
