Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Student Affairs Specialist II to support student organizations and manage Engage. You will register student groups, advise key student bodies, and help plan events like ConnectFest and Stress-Less Week.

The role reports to the Assistant Director of Student Programs within the Office of Student Family Engagement. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Sciences or related field, with two years of related experience required.
• Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
• Master's degree preferred in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Leadership or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary support for UAB's student organization community, serving both undergraduate and graduate students.
• Oversee the University's online involvement platform (Engage).
• Directly responsible for all student organization registration and re-registration processes and event submissions.
• Advise Freshman Forum, a first-year student organization within the Undergraduate Student Government Association.
• Advise the UAB Pathfinders (involvement mentors) including their monthly Involvement Fair Programming.
• Assist in planning, development, coordination and assessment of programs such as ConnectFest and Stress-Less Week.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
