Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital Richmond is seeking a Student Nurse Technician (Future Registered Nurse) for per diem night shifts in Richmond, VA. The role requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing program and proof of completion of the first year or fundamentals of nursing.

You will assist with vital signs, daily care, and basic clinical support under RN supervision. This position offers hands-on experience aligned with NCLEX preparation and potential pathways toward further opportunities

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, follow written and verbal instructions, and maintain good relations with patients, families, physicians and staff.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, urine/stool collection, ostomy care and drainage tubes.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by the RN (not in antecubital fossa or higher).
• Deliver meals and snacks, assist patients who cannot feed themselves, document intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients and assist mobility.
• Transport patients to designated areas and treatment centers.
