UnityPoint Health Summer 2027 Student Nurse Internship offers a 10-week, hourly paid program with flexible hours. Interns gain hands-on patient care experience alongside experienced clinicians and have opportunities across Home Care, Hospice, Pediatrics, Infusion, and Care at Home.

Completion may position interns for the Nurse Residency Program, with a pathway to a full-time RN role after graduation in a supportive, learning-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited ADN, BSN or accelerated nursing program.
• For BSN track, entering fourth year; for ADN, final two terms.
• LPN enrolled in ADN or BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Build strong professional relationships with clinical team members.
• Gain confidence in performing technical skills.
• Develop clinical judgment skills and priority setting.
• Gain valuable experience to help prepare for a future position with UnityPoint Health after graduation.

Education

Current enrollment in an accredited ADN, BSN or accelerated program

Summer 2027 Student Nurse Internship

Shift: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Minimum of 24 hours - maximum of 40 hours/week -- flexible hours!)

10-week hourly paid position.- Customizable internship tracks available in different locations (Home Care, Hospice, Pediatrics, Infusion, + Care at Home)

Transition to Nurse Residency Program: - Those that successfully complete the internship would be considered a preferred candidate for the nurse residency program.- Residency program includes a commitment to work one year (12 months) in a full-time status as a Registered Nurse at Unity Point at Home.

• Current LPN enrolled in ADN or BSN program.
• Interns must be enrolled in a one-credit nursing course for the duration of the internship to perform RN skills.

Application Materials

Accepted from November 1st - March 1st, 2027- Submit recommendation forms from two nursing facility members.

Write a letter of intent answering: What influenced you pursue a career in nursing? Why are you interested in the nurse internship program? Where do you see yourself in five years?

Include a current AHA or Red Cross Professional Provider card + current mandatory reporter certification.
