Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Illinois is offering a Summer 2027 Student Nurse Internship designed for nursing students to gain hands-on patient care experience. The 10-week, hourly paid program runs Monday–Friday with flexible 24–40 hour weeks across multiple tracks.

Interns will build clinical skills, form professional relationships, and may transition to the Nurse Residency Program after successful completion, with a pathway to full-time RN at UnityPoint at Home.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in nursing program during internship.
• GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or higher.
• Current CPR/First Aid (AHA or Red Cross) and mandatory reporter certification.
• Enrollment in a nursing course during the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Build strong professional relationships with clinical team members.
• Gain confidence in performing technical skills.
• Develop clinical judgment skills and priority setting.

Summer 2027 Student Nurse Internship

Shift: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Minimum of 24 hours - maximum of 40 hours/week -- flexible hours!)

10-week hourly paid position.

Customizable internship tracks available in different locations (Home Care, Hospice, Pediatrics, Infusion, + Care at Home)

Transition to Nurse Residency Program: Those that successfully complete the internship would be considered a preferred candidate for the nurse residency program. Residency program includes a commitment to work one year (12 months) in a full‑time status as a Registered Nurse at Unity Point at Home.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited ADN, BSN or Accelerated Program (either entering 4th year of BSN Program or last 2 terms of ADN program)
• Current LPN enrolled in ADN or BSN program
• GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• Current AHA or Red Cross Card- for the Professional Provider + current mandatory reporter certificaiton
• All interns are required to be enrolled in a nursing course during the duration of the internship
