Job summary

Wellstar Health Systems is offering a Student Nurse Extern Program for current nursing students to gain bedside experience while completing their RN degree. The SNE provides basic care under the supervision of a registered nurse and supports patient-centered care, safety, and efficient unit operations.

The role emphasizes communication, teamwork, and professional development, with expectations to complete activities that advance clinical skills in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent from accredited program.
• One semester clinical in a nationally accredited pre-licensure nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least one clinical rotation completed in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under supervision of the RN.
• Assist with hygiene, nutrition, and comfort measures.
• Transport supplies, patient care items, medications and equipment as assigned.
• Participate in hourly patient rounding.
• Maintain PPE and infection control practices.
