Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Student Nurse Extern to assist registered nurses in caring for a group of patients under supervision. In this role, you will document vitals, assist with ADLs, perform basic procedures, and help maintain a safe, efficient patient environment.

Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and in your final year, you will gain hands-on experience while contributing to the department's goals and quality standards. BLS certification is required prior to start date.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a nursing program through the final year.
• Currently in the final year or entering the final year of nursing school.
• Student nurses may not continue in the SNE role post-graduation or if not enrolled.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Nurse in patient care under supervision.
• Document vital signs, weights, heights, and care activities.
• Perform basic procedures such as wound care and dressing changes under RN supervision.
• Support transport of patients, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed.
• Maintain patient privacy and safety; participate in meetings as required.
