Job summary

The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History at the University of Oklahoma is seeking a student Education Assistant to support the Education Department with their programs. This role works with Education Staff to assist with natural and cultural history programs for youth ages 3-17 and participates in activities, supervision, and preparation.

Responsibilities include classroom setup/cleanup, program preparation, and possible handling of specimens; some programs occur outdoors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience working with children in a daycare, classroom, or informal education setting.
  • Interest in science and natural history education.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive and able to prioritize tasks independently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with natural and cultural history programs for youth ages 3-17.
  • Help museum educators conduct activities and supervise students.
  • Assist with regular classroom set-up and clean-up and program preparation.
  • May help with handling museum specimens and objects and collection care.
  • Some programs take place outdoors.
