Job summary

The California State University Maritime Academy Solano Campus is seeking a Makerspace Tech Student Assistant to support daily makerspace operations. Responsibilities include guiding users in safe operation of 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and other fabrication tools, and assisting with hands-on learning activities.

This temporary, part-time role offers up to 7 hours per week with an hourly pay rate of $17.

Qualifications

• Customer Service/Student Support: strong communication to explain steps clearly.
• Technical Aptitude: familiarity with makerspace equipment and design software.
• Safety Mindset: strict adherence to workshop safety policies.
• Bonus Skills: carpentry, metal fabrication, machining, mold making, mechanical prowess.

Responsibilities

• Patron Support: guide users on safely using hardware, software, and digital tools.
• Equipment Maintenance: clean, troubleshoot, and perform routine upkeep.
• Workshop Assistance: plan and lead activities, workshops, and one-on-one instruction.
• Lab Organization: manage supply inventory and track daily usage statistics.
