Job summary

Ferris State University College of Business in Big Rapids, MI is seeking a Makerspace Helper (Student Position) to support hands-on learning in the campus makerspace. You will assist students and faculty with design and fabrication projects and train users on 3D printers and laser equipment.

Essential duties include operating and maintaining equipment, promoting safety, keeping supplies stocked, and helping with setup and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Operate and maintain 3D printers, laser cutters, and related equipment.
• Follow and promote safety procedures while keeping machines in good working order.
• Train and assist students and faculty in using makerspace tools.
• Troubleshoot issues with equipment and projects as needed.
• Keep the makerspace running day to day and make sure equipment is ready to use.
• Run and maintain 3D printers, laser cutters, and other tools.
• Help students and faculty with their projects, from setup to troubleshooting.
• Show people how to use the machines safely and correctly.
• Keep track of supplies and let supervisors know when things are running low.
• Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and organized.
• Work with people from different programs and support a variety of projects.
