Position Overview

Student Affairs at Mont Alto Penn State is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team as a Coordinator. The Coordinator will be responsible to the Director of Student Affairs for co-supervising a staff of up to six Resident Assistants and overseeing the daily activities of buildings housing up to 210 students. The position includes weekend, night, and evening hours and is a live-in staff position. The role will be based at our Mont Alto campus through the end of the 2026–2027 academic year (~mid‑May 2027) and will transition to another campus location beginning the next academic year (~mid‑July 2027).

Responsibilities
  • Co-supervise Resident Assistants and conduct regular individual and group supervision meetings.
  • Collaborate on Resident Assistant performance evaluations.
  • Provide support and training for student leaders.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate co-curricular programs, student activities, and service-learning opportunities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of campus-wide initiatives.
  • Advise student groups and individual students on academic, career, and personal concerns.
  • Make referrals to University agencies and advocate for students.
  • Mediates conflicts among students and enforces university and residence hall policies.
  • Assist with daily operation and organization of Residence and Student Life Offices.
  • Handle requests for room changes and contract releases.
  • Promote safety and security of area residents and collaborate with Housing, Food Services, Safety, Security, New Student Programs, etc.
  • Provide on-call duty coverage on a rotating basis, including holidays and breaks.
  • Participate in committees, task forces, recruitment, and training of professional staff.
  • Assist in developing and implementing goals for the area and residence hall system.
Qualifications

A degree or higher in Student Personnel/Counseling or a related area is preferred. Applicants should possess a thorough understanding of the role and purpose of residence hall living as it applies to student development.

Minimum Education and Experience (depending on solicitation level)

  • Residential Education Specialist‑Professional: Bachelor's Degree; no prior relevant work experience required.
  • Residential Education Specialist‑Intermediate Professional: Master's Degree; no prior relevant work experience required.
Background Checks and Clearances

This position requires PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check, and a valid driver’s license with motor-vehicle record check.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $44,628.00–$71,340.00. Penn State provides a competitive benefits package including comprehensive medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, paid time off, and a 75% tuition discount for eligible employees and qualified spouses and children.
