Job description

Position Overview

The Residence Life Office is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team as a Residence Life Coordinator. The Coordinator is a Live‑On position responsible for supervising a staff of up to 20 Resident Assistants and overseeing the daily activities of buildings housing up to 400 students.

Responsibilities
  • Supervision
    • Supervises Resident Assistants
    • Conducts regular individual and group supervision meetings
    • Evaluates Resident Assistant performance
    • Provides support and training for Resident Assistants
  • Student Development and Residence Education
    • Assists with planning, implementation, and evaluation of a residential curriculum
    • Assists with development and implementation of building, area, and campus‑wide initiatives
    • Advises student groups in the area
    • Makes referrals to university partners when appropriate
    • Encourages student involvement in residential and university engagement opportunities
    • Promotes area government
    • Advocates for students through communication of their concerns and experiences
    • Advises individual students with academic, career, and personal concerns
    • Interprets and upholds university and residence hall policies and procedures
    • Mediates conflicts among students
    • Facilitates student accountability cases using the Student Code of Conduct process
    • Engages with students in crisis and provides connections to campus partners for continued support
  • Administration
    • Assists with daily operation and organization of the area and area office
    • Handles requests for room changes and contract releases
    • Assists in promoting safety and security of area residents
    • Maintains effective working relationships with Housing and Food Services, Safety and Security, New Student Programs, etc.
    • Provides on‑call coverage and responds to concerns, conflicts, and crises after typical working hours and over the weekend
  • Community Development
    • Demonstrates a commitment to students and the quality of their life in the residence hall environment
    • Encourages Resident Assistants to become well‑acquainted with students in the area
    • Assists Resident Assistants in developing and promoting a positive living environment
    • Plans and implements curriculum with Resident Assistants and students
    • Demonstrates a commitment to staff and student retention and recruitment efforts
  • Miscellaneous
    • Participates in committees and task force groups
    • Assists in recruitment and training of professional staff
    • Assists in development and implementation of goals for the area and the residence hall system
    • Performs other duties as assigned
Position Environment

The position may be located in a traditional residence hall setting or in a diverse apartment setting with graduate students, international students, undergraduate students, and families.

Summer Responsibilities
  • Interview, hire, and train summer staff to assist conference guests or summer school students
  • Supervise student employees and make disciplinary recommendations as needed
  • Schedule duties to cover various campus residence halls
  • Be present to assist with general questions and issues that might arise
  • Respond to behavioral and maintenance issues/emergencies
  • Resolve issues or contact appropriate staff or university offices as needed
  • Attend meetings with conference planners, customers, and other university departments as requested

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $44,628.00 – $71,340.00.
