Job summary

Auburn University Libraries is seeking a Student Assistant for the Circulation Unit to support daily operations and assist faculty, staff, and students. This role may work up to 20 hours per week, depending on library needs.

Responsibilities include assisting patrons at the Circulation/Mell Desk, helping with the online catalog, shelving using Library of Congress classifications, and basic data entry. Enrolled Auburn University students are eligible to apply.

Qualifications

• Enrolled Auburn University student eligible for campus employment.
• Must provide detailed availability for each day within library hours.
• All application questions must be completed and accurate.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct service to library patrons at the Circulation/Mell Desk, including checking materials in and out.
• Assist patrons with using the online catalog, locating materials, and searching for resources.
• Perform alphanumeric sorting and shelving using the Library of Congress classification system.
• Conduct shelf reading and straighten materials in public areas.
• Answer calls, respond to inquiries, and update records.
• Assist with processing and maintaining the course reserves collection.
