Job summary

The State of Georgia through South Georgia Technical College is seeking a part-time FWS-Library Assistant to support the library staff and patrons in a welcoming environment. The role contributes to the smooth daily operation and customer-focused service.

As a current student eligible for the FWS program, you will perform shelving, check-in/out, data entry, and basic tech support while developing organizational and interpersonal skills in a public-service library setting.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a student at South Georgia Technical College and eligible for the FWS program.
• Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently.
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with locating library materials, using computers, and accessing online resources.
• Check in and check out library materials, including books, periodicals, and media.
• Shelve returned materials accurately and maintain an organized collection.
• Assist with processing new library materials, including labeling and covering.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and data entry.
• Maintain the neatness and orderliness of library common areas.
• Assist with special projects and events as assigned by library staff.
• Provide basic technical support for library computers and printers.
