Job summary

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston's Labouré Adult Education Center seeks a Student Ambassador (Program Assistant) who will greet students, assist with orientations, intake, and daily operations.   • Current or recently enrolled Labouré Adult Education Center student in good standing.
  • Completion of at least one academic term in the program preferred.
  • Strong record of attendance, punctuality, participation, and respectful conduct.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with students, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse linguistic, cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated dependability, initiative, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks, and ask for assistance when responsibilities are unclear.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and recognize when a student concern must be referred to professional staff.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Burlington English, and other program platforms.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are strongly preferred.
  • Previous leadership, volunteer, customer service, office, or community experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining within the authority and boundaries of the position.
  • Ability to lift and carry classroom or office materials weighing up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation when required.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome prospective, new, and returning students and help create a respectful and inclusive environment.
  • Assist staff during student intake, registration, placement, testing, and orientation activities.
  • Help distribute and review the Student Handbook, program schedules, orientation materials, and basic student expectations.
  • Answer routine questions about program services, schedules, classrooms, and activities, referring confidential or complex matters to appropriate staff.
  • Assist students with completing basic forms and navigating program technology under staff supervision.
  • Help students access Google Classroom, Burlington English, email, Zoom, and other approved learning platforms.
  • Prepare photocopies, classroom packets, instructional materials, certificates, folders, and student resources.
  • Support teachers with classroom setup, materials organization, technology preparation, and approved instructional requests.
  • Assist with student check-in, attendance materials, room directions, and crowd flow during orientations, testing sessions, workshops, and special events.
  • Help prepare for graduation, open houses, recruitment events, workshops, student assemblies, and community activities.
  • Conduct basic program tours and welcome visitors, volunteers, and community partners when assigned.
  • Encourage student participation in classes, career services, workshops, tutoring, conversation groups, and program events.
  • Assist with approved student outreach and reminders using program-provided scripts and communication procedures.
  • Gather general student feedback and share recurring questions or concerns with program staff.
  • Maintain orderly classrooms, reception areas, bulletin boards, resource areas, and program supplies.
  • Perform basic administrative duties such as scanning, filing, assembling packets, organizing documents, preparing mailings, and monitoring supply needs.
  • Work is performed in an office and classroom setting.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the purpose and level of the position.

The Student Ambassador serves as a welcoming and dependable point of support for prospective and current students while assisting instructors and program staff with orientations, intake activities, classroom preparation, student engagement, and daily program operations.
