The primary purpose of this position is to provide after‑school educational support to students enrolled in the Work Force program and to assist in managing the daily operation of the computer and homework centers. The Work Force is an eleven‑year comprehensive after‑school educational support and employment training program that provides holistic support to public housing students from 6th grade through the first four years of post‑secondary programs. The mission of the Work Force is to empower adolescents living in Cambridge public housing to create their own pathways to educational success and economic mobility.
This is a seasonal position with an option for year‑round employment based on availability and performance. It operates during the school year from September until mid‑June and in the summer from July through August. The incumbent will work approximately 20 hours per week after school and early evenings and must be available Monday‑Thursday 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Friday 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm (and occasional evening events). The employee is frequently required to maintain a stationary position, operate computers and other office equipment, move about the office, attend onsite and offsite meetings, and communicate. The employee may occasionally transport up to 10 pounds.
The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate.
