Responsibilities

  • Provide child guidance and behavior management under supervision.
  • Assist in preparation of materials and record keeping as needed.
  • Respect diverse backgrounds of children and families.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings, including evenings when scheduled.
  • Complete EEC Essentials 2.0 prior to starting the position.
  • Meet annual professional development requirements and document in PQ Registry.

The Assistant Group Leader assists and supports the Group Leader and may participate in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate program experiences for an assigned group of children. They are always under the direct supervision of the group leader.

SCHEDULE: M-F 2:30-6:00pm throughout the school year 10:00am-6:00 pm during vacation weeks and in the summer

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision of children, indoors and out.
  • Document and communicate to the supervising Group Leader observed behaviors and situations of concern.
  • May observe and document children’s progress.
  • Follow health, safety and housekeeping procedures, and assist in maintaining an inviting classroom environment.
  • Provide child guidance and behavior management according to the program’s policies and procedures, and under the guidance and support of the group leader.
  • May assist in preparation and implementation of materials, record keeping, or other assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate respect for the cultural and socio-economic background of children and families.
  • Follow through with all Agency directives and assigned tasks and projects in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision and constructive criticism.
  • Model the CCAB mission statement to “respect the dignity of all people”.
  • Work is performed in a classroom setting.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings, which may involve evening hours.
  • Complete EEC Essentials 2.0 prior to starting the position.
  • Meet EEC requirements for professional development hours completed each year and enter them in the PQ Registry under the appropriate Core Competency.
  • Demonstrate willingness to work with colleagues as a team player.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including maintaining confidentiality, to children, staff, colleagues, the Agency and the community.
  • Physical, mental and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including evacuating the building, with or without corrective devices and accommodations, including the ability to read and write, to hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood, the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions, make good judgments, and be reliable and dependable.
  • Exhibit sincere interest in working with young children.
