Job summary

Angelo State University is seeking a Student Lab Assistant for the DLH Department of Engineering’s Hunter Strain Engineering Lab. Expect duties include equipment prep, testing, maintenance, and clerical support while maintaining safety and inventory standards.

The role requires full-time student status during Fall and Spring, reliability for shifts, and a positive representation of the university. Work is on-site with supervision by lab staff and faculty.

Qualifications

• Be registered as a full-time student for Fall and Spring semesters.
• Be in good standing with their academic department, residential housing, and the office of student affairs.
• Be in good physical health to lift heavy items and walk short distances.
• Be punctual and reliable for work shifts and meetings.
• Be self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Be a positive representative of the university and the engineering department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and assemble, disassemble, clean and store equipment needed for individual and group laboratory experiments.
• Test new equipment and ensure functionality.
• Do general maintenance and clean up of all lab stations and other indicated areas.
• Provide clerical support for lab instruction and maintain lab supplies stock.
• Alert faculty and office coordinator when lab supplies require ordering/re-ordering.
• Help maintain a current and running inventory of all materials.
• Promote and encourage a dynamic, positive, and safe environment within the department and the lab.
• Assist students in becoming familiar with lab rules and regulations, safety equipment and safety procedures.
• Provide department/lab tours, as necessary
• Assist department staff, as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.
