Job summary

Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi is seeking a Student IT Assistant to support the campus IT department. You will assist with installing and maintaining computers, software, and peripherals, and help students, faculty, and staff with IT issues.

The role includes troubleshooting hardware and software, supporting network connectivity, and helping manage user accounts and IT documentation. Enrolled students only, on‑campus position.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled student at Alcorn State University.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, software, and peripherals.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for students, faculty, and staff.
• Provide support for network connectivity, including Wi‑Fi and VPN troubleshooting.
• Assist in setting up and managing accounts for university systems (email, LMS, etc.).
• Help maintain IT documentation, user guides, and troubleshooting logs.
• Assist in inventory management of hardware and software.
• Support IT security, software updates, and system backups.
• Provide IT-related customer service and problem resolution.
• Other related duties as assigned.

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues forstudents, faculty, and staff.
• Provide support for network connectivity issues, includingWi-Fi and VPN troubleshooting.
• Assist in setting up and managing accounts for universitysystems (email, learning management systems, etc.)
• Help with the maintenance and updates of IT documentation,including user guides and troubleshooting logs.
• Assist in inventory management of hardware and software.
• Support the IT department in various tasks related to security,software updates, and system backups.
• Provide customer service by answering IT-related inquiries andoffering helpful solutions.
• Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED

Must be a currently enrolled student at Alcorn StateUniversity

Prior experience in area applied but not required
