Turn Data into Decisions That Shape the Future of the Electric Grid
What if your internship helped power the future of New England?
Join ISO New England as a Database Engineer Intern and work with the data behind one of the most critical infrastructures in the nation. You'll design solutions that transform complex modeling results into accessible insights, build tools that help analysts answer big questions faster, and create data visualizations that support decisions impacting millions of electricity consumers.
If you're passionate about data, analytics, technology, and solving real-world problems, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while building highly sought-after technical skills.
ISO New England is one of the most pivotal energy companies you’ve probably never heard of. Our job is to oversee the 24/7 operation of the power grid that covers the six-states of New England and to administer the region’s $10+ billion “stock exchange” for buying and selling of wholesale electricity. Our work ensures that over 14 million people can reliably turn their lights on and complete their jobs, take care of their families, and live in comfort with convenience.
The System Planning department ensures the regional transmission system can reliably deliver electricity under a wide range of future conditions, from next season to the next decade.
Within System Planning, the Economic Studies and Environmental Outlook Team analyzes future energy scenarios, evaluates economic impacts, and studies environmental trends that may influence the power system. Their work helps stakeholders better understand the opportunities and challenges facing New England's evolving energy landscape.
You’ll work with real-world data and collaborate with experienced professionals who use data-driven insights to support long-term planning of the electric grid.
Your work will help transform how planning studies are analyzed and shared across the organization.
The tools and processes you develop could become a valuable resource used by analysts and engineers long after your internship ends.
